The wrath of nature
No one is more powerful than nature
Earthquakes
On average, Magnitude 2 and smaller earthquakes occur several hundred times a day world wide. Major earthquakes, greater than magnitude 7, happen more than once per month. "Great earthquakes", magnitude 8 and higher, occur about once a year.
Floods
Floods can happen during heavy rains, when ocean waves come on shore, when snow melts quickly, or when dams or levees break. Floods can occur within minutes or over a long period, and may last days, weeks, or longer.
Forest fires
Rising global temperatures and the increased frequency of extreme weather events has led to a surge in the number of wildfires rapidly consuming extensive areas of vegetation and forested lands.
Avalanches
Although avalanches occur by the thousands every winter in mountainous terrain, almost all avalanches involving people are triggered by people. The more time you are engaged in winter activities, the greater your chances of being caught by an avalanche.
